Autism Awareness Month is taking place for the month of April. At Scoil Teampall Toinne, we decided to complete small activities in our classes which encourage an awareness and appreciation of what life might be like for a person with Autism. The children engaged brilliantly with the various activities. As a whole school we undertook a head or tails challenge. The heads or tails challenge took place outside on the yard where children from all classes competed against each other flipping coins. Well done to Gemma Cahill in Junior Infants who won the challenge. The school has been a buzz with Easter activities this week, the infants in particular have been busy completing Easter tasks in Aistear. They also participated in an Egg hunt and enjoy tasty smoothies.. Many thanks to the parents council who gifted each child in our school an Easter Egg this week. The children were delighted with their yummy treat.

The students of STT will dress up in their brightest colours tomorrow for Daffodil day. A small donation would be greatly appreciated on the day. All proceeds will be donated to the Irish Cancer Society. AistearJunior Infants have been very busy this week. They were working in a supermarket, making shopping lists, building lego furniture and training to be baristas and beverage connoisseurs.
Take a look at the images below to see some of the amazing work completed including many lego super markets. Ceiliúraí seachtain na Gaeilge 2022 Chuir rang a trí agus a ceathair ceolchoirm ar siúl sa halla de Céadaoin. Comhgairdeas libh.
St. Patrick's DayOn Monday our school celebrated the Happy Days St. Patrick's day, we marched up the village dressed in an array of green white and gold. The children loved seeing their parents, friends and families out on the street to support their march. Engineer's WeekCheck out our STEM page to see all the wonderful work that has taken place as part of engineer's week. Basketball Mini League5th and 6th ran a basketball mini-league over the last few weeks. Just like the NBA,this was not without its delays and postponements due to covid but we eventually got through the league and managed to play the final off recently. After an epic battle, which required a replay, Amy-Rose's team came out victorious. It was great having the pupils learn a new sport and seeing their skill levels develop as the weeks rolled by was a joy to see. Congratulations Mrs Quinlan!A budding engineer-Daniel completed his Zoo project just on time. What began from a small plan turned into a vivid array of colour and highlighted the role of imagination in creating and play. Daniel says anyone can make things, and was in awe throughout the whole process of what could be made with very little materials. Maybe this will inspire you to draw up some plans of your own... Have fun :)
First and Second ClassSenior Infant FunJunior InfantsJunior Infants had great fun today as we went on a spring walk to the sensory garden. We also made pancake batter in our class. We had a wonderful decorating and eating our pancakes for Shrove Tuesday too. Valentine CardsWe are sculptures! First and Second class were busy last week planning and creating their very own sculptures from clay. Take a look! Valentine's BakingAfter many delays and postponements of matches, our school mini-league came to a conclusion today after Amy-Rose’s team defeated Ryan’s in the final of the classroom mini-league.
This was the second thrilling instalment after the first game ended in a draw. The sharp shooting of Seán English, along with the game’s MVP, Amy-Rose O’Dwyer, won out the day after a very entertaining final. The pupils only took up basketball in the middle of October so seeing them develop and master the skills has been fantastic. I think a few of the more GAA orientated pupils learned just how exhausting and physical basketball really is. It’s always great to experience a new sport and this is something we encourage in the school. Healthy body, healthy mind! The pupils of 5th and 6th class celebrated St Brigid's Day by making the traditional crosses and learning about some customs and traditions that go with it.
While working on the crosses, some of the pupils were discussing how it would be nice to make crosses for people in the community who had nobody to make one for them. With that, we spent a large part of the day collecting rushes and making crosses before leaving them in Pat Russel's shop to be handed out to his customers. It was a lovely gesture and a small way for the children to give a little back to their community. We hope this can be something we make an annual event. After all, with a new bank holiday in her honour, we need to remember St Brigid more then ever! The Children have been very busy since returning to school this year. Each class has been working hard within all subject areas but most recently there has been some wonderful working happening in 3rd and 4th class. Take a look at some of the art they completed to celebrate the New Year. We tested our cooking skills by making a delicious and healthy vegetable soup. Our soup was packed with fresh vegetable and was a great way to heat up our hands on a cold winters day. Happy St. Brigid’s Day
