Ballyporeen Parents Council promotes the interests of the students in co-operation with the Board of Management, the Principal, teachers and students. We work in partnership with the Principal and teachers of Scoil Teampall Toinne Ballyporeen in the development of our children’s education. Along with being a support to parents in the school, we organise extra curricular activities with the agreement of the Board of Management. Some events are either subsidised or fully covered by the Parents Council with the support and help of the Board of Management. We therefore rely heavily on fundraising throughout the year and need the continued support of all the parents of Scoil Teampall Toinne.
Many thanks to the Parents Council who kindly sponsored our new school jerseys and helped fund our new school tablets.
Here are some examples of the activities we organise:
Halloween: Best dressed competition with prize organised between Parents Council and local photographer for all children trick & treating on Halloween night. All participants receive a free professional photo
Halloween storytelling for all classes
Christmas trip to the pantomime and Santa visit
Christmas Fair fundraising for the school
Swimming from Senior Infants
Tea/coffee and home baking for parents and guests after communion mass
Encourage student involvement in St. Patrick’s day parade by organising a themed float representing Scoil Teampall Toinne
We organise the invite of guest speakers to the school to address parents on topical issues for e.g. Internet Safety if parents so wish.
The beneficial “Lets Talk” workshops for students making the transition from primary to secondary school (The Social and Health Education Project)
Short presentations and guest speakers for children during school time
Ballyporeen Parents’ Council meets regularly in the school hall/staff room weather permitting. Parents are notified through our web text service, a note is given to each child and a laminated notice-advertising meeting is attached to the school gate.
All parents are welcome to attend meetings.
