We also celebrated our beginning of year mass. Fr Flynn visited our school on Thursday and we all had a wonderful opportunity to pray for a successful year ahead.

​From using calculators to add 4 digit numbers to reinacting our favourite TV programmes, we really have been busy. 
The boys and girls spent time chatting to one another as Gaeilge and practising some of their ceisteanna nua like Cé mhéad duine atá i do theaghlach? and Cé thusa? and freagraí nua like Tá triúr i mo theaghlach and  Is mise... We even took some videos of us trying out our new learning. Take a look!
In Religion we learned about a man named Abraham.  Some children thought he was the previous President of America (Abraham Lincoln) but this Abraham was the first Jew and God asked him to move to a new land and change his name from Abram to Abraham.  God gave Abraham and his wife Sarah a son named Isaac.  No not the same Isaac in 3rd class!! 
On Tuesday we went to the church to listen to Nancy and Joan share stories of Jesus healing the sick.  We shared prayers for those who are sick and we said a decade of the Rosary for the Annunciation of our Lady.
In Geography we looked at islands around Ireland.  We located many well known islands on the map and discussed how islands are formed from volcanoes.  The children shared stories of their holidays to Cape Clear and the Aran Islands.

The first few weeks of school have flown by as everyone is Scoil Teampall Toinne has settled back into their routines and rituals. We hope all of the children are happy to be back and this new school year has already been exciting and memorable.


First and Second class have been learning all about Autumn. They went on an Autumn walk and searched for signs of the changing weather. They found Autumn leaves and they hope to create something in Art using them later in the week.
