The school were very excited about the recent Munster GAA junior hurling final. Third and fourth class wrote wonderful poems to cheer Skeheenarinky on to victory. Unfortunately it wasn't Skeheenarinky's day, but every one at Scoil Teampall Toinne National Scoil were very proud of their acomplishments to date.
Sincere thanks to all of the families who contributed to our recent Non uniform day. We are delighted to inform you that we raised €150 for Crumlin Chiildren’s Hospital.
The school calendars were very successful, all of the children participated fantastically and they looked great in the Calendar. We hope everyone enjoys their calendar in the New Year. We are very grateful to everyone who purchased advertisements and calendars. The Parent’s Council’s Christmas raffle has been postponed until January, so we will update you with the winners in the new year. Our Book Fair from earlier the term was supported excellently. We were thrilled to raise over €2000 in credits for our school. We will have a variety of new books in our classrooms as a result of the credits earned through the book fair. Finally we had a wonderful delivery on Friday last. The Clogheen Men’s Shed in conjunction with Tipperary County Council donated a fantastic buddy bench to our school. The bench will be placed on the pupil’s yard. We hope that students will use the bench in a very inclusive way, where it will provide children with a safe place to find a buddy during play time. We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Christmas break and we look forward to seeing you all back in school in January. The parents council have organised a wonderful student Christmas raffle this year. The prizes includes a variety of hampers filled with toys, sweets and treats.
Tickets will be on sale in school on Tuesday & Wednesday next week. Children can bring money to school if they wish to buy their tickets. Tickets cost 50 cent for 1 row of tickets or 3 rows for €1. The prizes will be shown to all classes on Monday. The raffle will be drawn before school closes for the Christmas Holidays. An air of excitement swept through our school today in anticipation of tonight's toy show. The infants all made Rice Krispy buns as a treat for tonight's show. First and second class designed Christmas trees, stockings and they designed a Christmas Jumper also. Third and fourth class were busy today predicting what Christmas jumper Ryan Tubridy might be wearing for tonight’s show. Have a look at some of their magnificent jumpers. We hope everyone enjoys getting into the Christmas cheer tonight.
Junior Infants had a special visitor arrive also, his name is Chris, the Christmas elf. Hopefully he doesn't get up to too much mischief over the next few weeks. This week we are celebrating Science Week in First and Second class. The children started with an exploration of materials used to build houses and chatted about making their own houses. Linking with Art, the children are creating diorama's of their chosen room out of shoe boxes. They'd give Dermot Bannon a run for his money! On Tuesday they had lots of fun making "Bubbling Potions" and discovered that when you combine vinegar and bicarbonate of soda, carbon dioxide is formed which creates an explosion. There was almost another explosion later that day at the sight of the mess we left. First and Second class continued exploring the world of Science this week. The children made rafts to help the Three Billy Goats cross the river without having the cross the bridge and meet the scary troll. They discovered which materials made better rafts and which ones were not so suitable. The children continued learning about houses and homes too and started creating their diorama's out of shoe boxes. They had lots of fun doing this. Well done 1st and 2nd class. Have a lovely weekend, Mrs. Quinlan The children in 1st and 2nd class have been working really hard at improving their writing and learning to use cursive handwriting. This week's Handwriting Hero's are Aoibhe Lyons and Ellie-Mae O'Brien from 2nd class. Well done girls! Junior Infant's had a very busy week this week as they were hard at work in the doctor's surgery in Aistear and they completed experiments investigating floating and sinking. Take a look at our Science week page and our Infant's page for more pictures. Third and Fourth class also carried out a range of fascinating experiments for Science week.
This is just a gentle reminder that if you or your children wish to donate a shoe box to the National Shoebox appeal, our school will collecting them in the coming week. Please return any clearly labelled filled shoe boxes to school by November 8th 2021. Many thanks in advance for your continued support. Credit Union Art competition Winners Congratulations to Amy Rose(6th Class) and Aoibhe(2nd class) who won prizes in the Credit Union Art competition. The theme of this year’s competition was Imagination. Amy created a fabulous piece which explored the idea of ‘Kids rule the world’. Aoibhe described her pieces as a collection of doodles of her favourite things. Both girls received gorgeous prizes of certificates and art sets. Amy’s artwork having won first place will be judged in the Credit Union regional final also. Congratulations again, they school are very proud of your accomplishments. This week was rather busy in STT. We had Maths week, our Calendar photo shoot, our Halloween sponsored walk and we also plants daffodil bulbs for spring. Aistear has been in full swing in the Infant rooms also, check out the various pictures on the Infants page. Well done to everyone who participated in all of the fantastic activities that took place this week.
Third and fourth class were busy this week learning about lines and angles. We went outside to make a right angle, an acute angle and an obtuse angle. Juniors have been very busy this week as they have been practicing their fine motor skills and using their pencils markers.
