School closes at 12pm today for our summer break.
Congratulations to all of the children who performed and participated so well in our school shows over the past two evenings. As a school community we were thrilled to welcome so many family members and friends to the Community Hall for the fantastic performances. Well done to all of the staff who worked hard with the children over the past few weeks to facilitate these performances. Many thanks to Seamus, The Community Council, our raffle prize sponsors and all those who helped out on the night. We hope everyone has an enjoyable and safe summer break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school in August. Our school calendar and Stationery supply list will be posted on the website for everyone to access. They will also be distributed to all parents/guardians on Aladdin. Many thanks again for your continued support throughout the school year.

3rd and 4th class visited Cahir Castle last week. All of the children enjoyed a walk through the fairy trail towards the Swiss cottage. They also explored the castle and listened to the wonderful tour guide show them the areas of interest within the castle. Junior Infants celebrated our May Birthday's today. We all sang happy birthday and enjoyed some chocolate cake.
Having studied Egypt the student built pyramids using marshmallows and spaghetti. The children were practicing their engineering skills constructing and reconstructing in a specific period of time. Junior Infants have been learning about 'Ag an Zú' in Gaelige this week, as such we focused on Zoo Animals during Aistear time. The children planned Aistear as a group where they decided to complete a variety of fun activities incorporating Zoo animals. Over the course of the week, each child worked together to create Lego Zoo animals, they used Magnatiles and blocks to build a zoo creating enclosures for the animals. Lastly each group used our class circus tent to create a circus themed drama, various children transformed into animals, ringmasters etc. Everyone had wonderful fun playing and using their imaginations. This week we also celebrated Paudie's birthday. He turned six in April but we enjoyed our tasty treat this week. Keep an eye on the upcoming Month of May Birthdays as we have many children celebrating their birthdays in May. Reminder: School will finish early on Monday for a staff meeting. All children will finish school at 2p.m.
Reminder: Open Night For New Entrants will take place on Wednesday March 15th at 5.30pm. Parents are invited to visit our school and take a look at some of the facilities and wonderful work that is happening in our school at the minute. We look forward to meeting you all on Wednesday. Last Sunday some of the children from Scoil Teampall Toinne participated in the Scór South Final in Newcastle. All of the children performed fantastically. Congratulations to the Quiz team, the music group, the novelty act and the individual recitation, whom qualified for the next round of the competition. The county final will take place this Sunday at 2pm in Halla na Féile in Cashel. Last Friday our school celebrated World Book Day. The children dressed up as their favourite book characters for the day. They brought in their most treasured books from home as well. Each class listened to stories from their books also.
February has been a very busy month with Scór na nÓg finals, pancake Tuesday, Table quizzes, Biodiversity workshops and much more. The children have been very busy learning about Spring, enjoying pancakes and performing for the school. We also enjoyed our midterm break and Valentine's Day last week as well. Well done to all of the young performers who performed in the Parochial Hall on February 10th. The immense talent was clear to see when we witnessed such a diverse range of performance, dance and song on stage. Congratulations to Elle and Bronwyn who will represent Scoil Teampall Toinne in the county round of Scór in Cahir on March 5th. Congratulations to Mr Coffey's quiz teams who have been participating in a variety of local quizzes over the past month. Keep up all of the hard work and commitment you have shown to date. Well done also to the three fantastic young men who received special accreditation from Shanbally United this year. Well to Ciarán, Ronan and Billy who receive trophies for Most improved player of the year, Manager's MVP and MVP within their age group in their soccer club in Burncourt. Many thanks to everyone involved in the preparation of the sacrament. This week's school assembly was fantastic. We listened to beautiful singing from Senior Infants and first and second class. We listened to third and fourth class play the tin whistle as well. Fifth and sixth class updated everyone on how the Aldi sticker competition was going. third and fourth class are currently in the lead with a whopping 199 Aldi stickers collected to date. Congratulations to the children who received the principal's award. Well done to Willow, Ned, Niamh, William and Reuben. Keep up the good work everyone. We all celebrated St. Brigid's Day the senior classes collected and made St. Brigid's crosses using rushes. We are all looking forward to the upcoming bank holiday. We hope everyone has a lovely weekend and we will see you on Wednesday morning. Reminder that school will close at the earlier time of 2p.m. on Monday January 30th to facilitate a staff meeting.
We are all looking forward to our school assembly on Monday morning hopefully we will hear some exciting news from the classes throughout the school. Congratulations to our GAA coach Mark Keane on his recent All Ireland victory in Croke Park. Mark along with his Ballygiblin team mates won the All Ireland Junior Club Hurling Championship last Saturday. Mark visited our school today with the trophy which we were all very excited to see.
Preparations are well underway in Scoil Teampall Toinne for Scór na bPáistí. Children from second to sixth class have been auditioning, selecting pieces and working hard to preparre acts for the upcoming Scór competition. Well done to everyone involves, it will be very exciting to see the your final acts and performances. Despite this week being a very cold one, works have continued on Astroturf development, the base of the all weather pitch is looking very well as the construction workers prepare for the next phase of the works. Our school is participating in this years Aldi Play Rugby Sticker competition. Aldi shoppers will be able to collect one sticker for every €25 spent in any Aldi store nationwide. The stickers can be brought into school where they will be stuck to our school's Aldi Poster. Each completed poster of stickers entitles a school to entry a mega draw. The first prize is an amazing €50000 for the winning school. Please do send in any stickers you receive over the next few months so that our school can be in with a chance to win. The competition will finish at the end of April. Within our own school, we will be holding a mini competition each week for the class who bring in the most Aldi stickers on any given week. Reminders: -Early closure on January 30th 2023 where all students will finish at 2pm. -School closed to facilitate Primary Language Curriculum Training for staff on February 7th 2023. 'Reading gives us somewhere to go when we have to stay where we are'. On a wet, miserable day Ms. McGraths 3rd & 4th class paired up with Mrs. Quinlan's 1st & 2nd again to practice their Reading. The older children were great mentors and the younger children loves showing off their reading skills.
