Christmas is a very special time of the year in our school. We work hard to connect with the community during the whole month of December. A range of events take place to bring the festive cheer into the hearts of all the students, staff and local community.
A special visit to the Post Office...
Junior and Senior infants had a very exciting morning visiting our local post office. We wrote lovely letters to Santa earlier this week to say hello and a big thank you to him. Today we walked all the way up to the Post Office and posted our letters. We met Mary O'Brien , the post man and Pat Russell. While we were there Santa phoned to say hello!! We had a super time :) the post office elf ended up going with the letters....we hope he doesn't get up to mischief on the way to The North Pole!
Christmas Fair
The Christmas fair was a huge success again this year. The students created wonderfully festive crafts that were available to buy that morning. Coffee, tea and cakes galore greeted the locals as they visited the School Hall for the fabulous craft fair. There was a tasty Cake sale which was supported by all the parents and members of the community. Many thanks, to everyone involved in the organisation and running of the event.
Turning on the Christmas lights
On Friday December 7th our school hosted our annual 'Turning on the lights'Ceremony. Music was provided by fifth and sixth class as they played the tin whistles throughout the event. All of the children performed a variety of Christmas carols and hymns also.
Christmas Activities in Juniors
Massive thanks to Brigid for creating the most loveliest of workshops for us. We listened to the story of The Gingerbread Man and then created our very own ones using lots of fun materials. Thankfully our gingerbread men didn't run away and we got to show them off at the school Christmas Fair earlier this month.
