Yesterday we celebrated World Mental Health day in our school. Each child dressed up in brightly coloured clothes to mark the day. They also contributed a small donation for the non uniform day. We are delighted to announce that your donations accumulated to €226 which will be donated to Jigsaw, The National Centre for Youth Mental Health Services in Ireland. In honour of World Mental Health day we raised our Amber Flag which we achieved two years ago in our school. It is terrific to see our Amber flag flying in acknowledgement of the steps taken by our students to promote positive mental health in our school. The children are enjoying additional activities in class this week which will also promote positive mental health and self care. We held our monthly assembly yesterday day also, congratulations to the boys and girl who received principal awards. Junior Infants: Liam Clarke Senior Infants: Sadhbh O' Gorman First & Second Class: Odhrán Hanrahan Third & Fourth Class: Eoghan Maher Fifth & Sixth Class: Luke Myers Again at assembly we listened to news and performances from various classes and we also listened to the wonderful 3rd & 4th class reciting the poem 'Ballyporeen' on Tipp FM last week. Well done to everyone involved. In other news, sponsorship cards for our annual Halloween March were distributed to the children yesterday. This is one of our school's main fundraisers in the year so we hope you can support. We are all very excited to see the children dress up in a fortnight. Remember prizes will be distributed on the day for the best costume, most original costume and best dressed parent who attends to support the children on the day. Our u13 boys played their cumann na mbunscol football blitz in Emly GAA field. They were in a very tough group with Lisvernane, Cappawhite and Emly NS. The boys played very well and showed great potential, winning 2 out of their 3 games. Unfortunately they lost by a few points to eventual winners Cappawhite so that's where this competition ends for them this year. Well done to all the 16 boys who took to the field over the course of the blitz to represent Scoil Teampall Toinne. Parent teacher meetings will take place on Tuesday Oct. 18th. All children will finish school at the earlier time of 12pm that day.
