We are delighted to share a glimpse into the exciting world of hands on learning that our students are currently immersed in- the design and creation of model boats! Third and fourth class learned all about The Titanic in September. They were asked to create a boat that could hold a cargo. The students embarked on a journey where imagination meets craftsmanship. From sketching initial designs to meticulously assembling their boats, each child explored the realms of science, engineering and teamwork. Guided by their parents and others at home the class gained insight into the principle of buoyancy and physics but also learned the importance of teamwork. We here in Scoil Teampall Toinne were blown away by the creativity and engineering of each student. We saw timber, plastic, metal, tin, balloons and even expanding foam being used to create their model boats. The final lesson in this project involved the children going outside to test the buoyancy of each boat. This project was thoroughly enjoyed as 3rd and 4th class showcases their boats to the whole school. We were blown away by the creativity, imaginations and hard work shown. Pictures to follow soon!
