'Reading gives us somewhere to go when we have to stay where we are'. On a wet, miserable day Ms. McGraths 3rd & 4th class paired up with Mrs. Quinlan's 1st & 2nd again to practice their Reading. The older children were great mentors and the younger children loves showing off their reading skills.
3rd and 4th class have been busy preparing for Christmas designing some beautiful Art.
This large mosaic Nativity is entitled ‘Wish upon The Star’ as each child wrote their wishes or prayers for Christmas on a little white star and placed it around ‘The star of Bethlehem’. They had fun learned about Bethlehem and what the Holy Manger actually looks like in 2022. Juniors and Seniors visited our local post office to post some very important letters to Santa Claus. The students of Scoil Teampall Toine have been full of Christmas Spirit this week. They performed excellently in the Carol Service on Sunday evening. The second class performed a wonderful rendition of the Nativity. Well done to all of the staff and students involved.
The Senior Infants wrote letters to Santa, worked in the post office and created a wonderful winter wonderland in their small world area. The Junior Infants enjoyed hot chocolate and birthday cake on Monday. They had great fun creating the North Pole in the small world area. They also created toys in Santa's workshop. The made beautiful Christmas trees and snowflakes as well. First and second class had great fun playing games in the Hall during the week. Everyone was very excited on Thursday when we had a very special visitor to our school. Santa Claus came to visit on the Fire Brigade, he wished all of the children a very merry Christmas and he gave the students lots of treats. Unfortunately he was very stiff getting back onto the Fire Brigade so some of the children had to push him back onto it. Hopefully he won't be as stiff getting in and out of his sleigh on Christmas Eve. Congratulations to the boys from 5th and 6th class who proudly represented their club over the weekend. The boys won the U12 Boys Tipperary Cup Division, beating Clonmel on Saturday. The boys played extremely well drawing with Clonmel with a final score of 2-2. The young men showed great conviction as they continued their stellar streak beating Clonmel in Penalties' 5-4. Well done boys!

Reminder that our school will perform at the Choir's Carol service this Sunday at 5pm, hopefully we will have a great evening at the concert. We are looking forward to seeing the 2nd class perform their nativity, all of the other children will perform songs as well. A special word of thanks to Barry Quinlan, who paid a visit to children in 1st to 6th class this week to share what his work as a Manufacturing Engineer entails and even brought in models of replacement hips and knees. The children learned how these replacement joints are created using a huge machine. The children had great fun using beebots and the very unfriendly dog, who kept catapulting balls at them. Barry further spoiled the boys and girls with their very own goodie bags. Everyone at STT really enjoyed Barry's visit and look forward to seeing him again soon. Thank you Barry. Our school has been a hive of activity this past fortnight as we have been exploring a variety of STEM activities for Science week. Each day we have had a different interactive activity which all the classes have thoroughly enjoyed. Children enjoyed workshops administered by Lismore Mobile Science, Maths/trails, Nature trails, online webinars, project work, in class experiments, STEM fair/games and guest speakers over the past fortnight. Take a look at some of the pictures and videos exhibiting some of the great work that has taken place. Today our school kindly donated multiple Shoeboxes to the annual Shoebox appeal which will bring joy to many less fortunate children this Christmas. Many thanks to everyone who took the time to prepare and donate a shoebox. Reminder that our School's Céilí takes place tonight in Ballyporeen Community Hall. At the very bottom of this post their is a short video clip of the 3rd and 4th class dancing brilliantly as they got into the spirit of the Céilí. We hope that everyone will follow their lead and have their dancing shoes on in support of the current development project taking place in the school. Christmas Shoebox appealCéilí Dancing |
